18. Invention, intellectual property, and income

This week is about creating a dissemination plan for the Final Project. Also review the intellectual property.

dissemination plan

For this final project I plan some things for the future. First the device is very useful because help childrens to identify their emotions, so this device is recommended to be on schools or outside enviroments, even home.

The first step for this project is to create a easier way to produce it. This project is producible because the system integration and all components are machine made.

The second step is to go to schools, bring some of this devices and teach children how to use it. This process is very easy because the learning curve is simple. On this step also parents need to be teach about how to use the application.

The third step is to create more version of this devices, more emotions buttons and more simplicity inside the device. This simplicity I want to be for example on the amount of cables inside the device. This part could be simpler by making the PCB on china and bigger to have space for the Touch Sensor.

The fourth step is to improve the patterns on the Neopixel matrix, even create a better neopixel matrix in order to create better patterns and designs.

Finally I think is needed to add some security layers. The protection of data here is very important and is something I added to the application but something that could be improved and have more security layers. From protecting how the data is sent to the database to have a notice of privacy, are things that need to be on mind to improve this project.

intellectual property

I decided to give it a Creative Commons License to this project. The terms that I added to the license are:

You are free to:

  • Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format for any purpose, even commercially.
  • Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially.
  • The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms.

Under the following terms

  • Attribution — You must give appropriate credit , provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made . You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
  • No additional restrictions — You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.

And the license:

EmoBox by Victor Montaño is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International

This gives the permission to everyone to make modifications, share, adapt only giving me credit. For me the credits are important because then you can go to the root of the project, then it is difficult to lose and forget where it started.

Income

This project is more on the focus of helping the society, so the income for me is not an option. I'd rather that a production bussines gets income by producing it at scale.
