7.Computer-Controlled Machining.

This week we worked on the design, manufacturing and assembly of a large piece..

Description of the work process of the week07

On this occasion I used the CNC ROUTER machine, it is a machine in which you can make cuts of larger pieces, carving and edge profiling .

These cuts are made through trajectories through a system called numerical control. Send coordinates from the computer with millimeter precision.

For cutting on this machine, use the VCARVE program. In this program you can also design your piece from scratch, but this time work in 360 fusion, and in VCARVE you only configure.

CAD (computer aided design).

Within the configuration is the “path operation”, the cutting depth and the number of passes, this can be done in different layers, another thing we find in the configuration is the way in which internal or external cutting can be performed. The main controls for this can be found on the sides and at the top there is a drop-down menu bar. The file that was previously configured is saved and converted to G code, a language understood by the CNC machine system. This code tells us line by line the movements that the router is going to make.

CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing).

Once on the machine with the file, clamp the 15 mm thick MDF wood with mechanical clamps to the sacrificial bed that is aligned to the “X and “Y” axes. This is how the cutting began, at all times I was aware of the machine, with the control in hand so that in case of any unforeseen event I could stop the cutting process.

Once the cutting was finished with the vacuum cleaner, I collected all the material and proceeded to remove the pieces from the sacrificial bed.

Finally, put the pieces together and assemble the table you made where the top table can be removed and I plan to add a drawer to store things. This table is easy to assemble and disassemble since you do not need to glue the pieces together. The cuts allow it to be joined together. easily.

reflection and analysis

It is important to maintain safety measures at all times when using machinery of this type.
