Week 17: Invention, Intellectual Property and Income

Dissemination Plan

Let’s be honest — I don’t see myself profiting off this project in its current form. It’s not a polished product, it’s not revolutionary tech, and it would need a lot more refinement to hit the shelves.

But here’s the thing: that’s not the point. This project already has a purpose — as a beacon. A conversation starter. A living proof that, with the right tools and mindset, you can make almost anything. And I’ve lived that process. I’ve made mistakes, fixes, breakthroughs, and now I have something to show for it — something I’m proud of.

At Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, we’re working toward transforming our digital fabrication workshop into a full Fab Lab — ideally within the next year. If that happens (and we’re making it happen), this project could serve as one of our flagship examples to inspire students, staff, and anyone walking in, thinking: “Could I make something like that?”

The answer will be: Yes. Yes you can.

Like Neil said during our final class: this is just the beginning. For me, for our lab, for the students who will pass through this space and discover that the gap between idea and creation is smaller than they thought. This project will be part of that story — not as a product, but as a seed.

Future Possibilities

I don’t see myself turning this into a product. It's not revolutionary. It's not patent-worthy. It's something I made, and I’m proud of that. Could it be improved? Absolutely. Should it be replicated? Sure, if someone finds it useful. That’s why I’m keeping everything open source. If this project inspires someone else to make something better, cooler, or weirder — mission accomplished.

And since I’d rather not die in obscurity with no credit, I’m licensing this work under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0). That means anyone can remix, adapt, and build upon it — even for commercial purposes — as long as they give me credit and keep it under the same license.

Project Slide and Video

I’ve uploaded the final project slide and the video. Both are in the “official” resolution and format that makes FabAcademy staff sleep peacefully at night.

Accessibility Confirmation

Yes, I checked. The slide and video are both linked from my project page. They load. They don’t crash the browser. They do exactly what they’re supposed to do. If that’s not enough, I’ll mail them on a USB stick with glitter and tears.
