Project Development

For this week I need to list tasks that have been completed and tasks that I need to complete and finish for my final project.

So, for that, I made a schedule of things that have been completed and not yet:

Tasks

Completed Not Completed
1. CNC cut parts 1. Gears mechanism assembling
2. Modules assembly 2. Packaging for wires
3. 3D printed parts (wings) 3. LEDs soldering and putting on wings
4. LEDs checking and assembling wires 4. Assemblinig all together
5. New board for LED programming 5. Testing
6. 3D printed gears

What has worked and what hasn’t

I had a small issue with one of my boards. I designed a board with S2Mini ESP32 module, so that I could make a software and make a communication by wi-fi, but as this board didn’t work(I documented it) I used my previous board with AtTiny 1614 microcontroller.

As AtTiny doesn’t have built-in wi-fi or bluetooth capabilities, I wasn’t able to make an app. So I will not manage my chandelier by application.

What questions need to be resolved

When I was testing my chandelier in work I was rotating the stepper motor and gear mechanism. There, I had problems with resistance.

I did not calculate the force, resistance, weight well. All this made me think of a new mechanism that would be able to move the 2 wings of the chandelier.

For that I made a big resaerch of Gear Reducers.

In the case of a single gear reducer where a large gear is connected to a single smaller gear, the smaller gear makes two turns for every one turn of the larger gear. A gear reducer is generally used for low-speed and high-torque transmission systems.

Rudolf, who helped me design gear reducer, had a lot of knowledge in this field.

Besides this mechanism, other parts of planned things worked well. All modules are ready and assembled. Boards are working well.

What have you learned

I’ve learned to plan my affairs in a much larger volume than I imagine and will actually happen, because always something may not go as planned.

To have much more detailed calculations for all the mechanisms that I have to assemble, draw, cut. Thanks to them, I can reduce the risks of making mistakes and not working mechanisms.
