ACTIVE MARGINS SIMULATOR
As I work in the seismology laboratory at the university, I have often had to explain how earthquakes occur, but I want to expand on that explanation and make it as graphic as possible.
Sketches of the project
"Dynamic of earthquake in subuction zones"
The proposal, for educational purposes, aims to represent a geological process called subduction at tectonic plate boundaries. These geological phenomena cause earthquakes. This representation will make understanding geological dynamics much easier.
Prototype
Images above shows the prototype. Continental plate is made of acrilic and all the structure that are supported by pen springs on cardboard casing.
Treadmill belt
Has bought a plastic mesh for simulating the belt of the "treadmill" and it has been printed small hills on it so can gives some friction against the front slab of the continental plate.
