7. Computer controlled machining

"Make Something Big!" That sounds easy, but it isn't. The biggest challenge this week is, to choose one project of the long list of ideas and to them. Which idea should I take? Should it me more beautiful or more usefull? Well, we will see.

Group Assignment

You can find informations about our group assignment here.

Because I never used a CNC before, I learned a lot about this machines. Starting with the typ of Data it needs and ending with how to find out if a tool is not good any more. The Interface of the Programm is not really intuitiv to me, so it will need a bit of time until I can use it without struggle.

Individual Assignment

To find out, what Idea would be the best, I have a Meeting with my local instructor Lena Hagenauer. She is really good in working with this machine and she has a lot of experience in estimating what is possible in the time available. We decided that I will build a workbench for young Children. We do not have something like that in our lab, but it would be good to have so that the children have something to play with that matches to our Fablab.

But before I can start working with the machine, my teammates have to challenge building a lot of furniture for the Hannover Messe. Together with partners, our FabLab is running a stand for the QuFabLab project at this trade fair. They produce the further development of the stack cube system Lena Hagenauer developed during her Fab Academy circle. You can find it here. So I will write an update on this page, a bit after the Hannover Messe.
