Brainstorming for Final Project

One thing we have always wanted in our Fab Lab is a scanner to sign in and out of the lab for our records. So here I am making this scanner!

Research

At Wheaton, we use ID's that have a HID chip inside them to track many things such as access to get into certain buildings or classrooms, pay for meals using our meal plan, and even printing things out. I originally thought that I could use a NFC chip reader but then figured out that you can not read HID cards with NFC readers.
