Week 18: Project Development

Assignment

  • * Complete the final project, and do progress tracking

  • Microdosft Excel (Spreadsheet) was used to do progress tracking

  • Here below is the used Excel timeline chart
  • Also I have been using Trello , an online project management tool that organizes tasks and projects into customizable boards, providing a visual overview of progress and enabling collaborative team coordination.
Click on this link named time management technique that I used for the completion of Fab Academy 2023 to find the online file.
Here below is the taken screenshoot
  • What tasks have been completed?

    1. 1. A 3D-designed cover (housing) to house the board and all other electronics has been finished.
    2. 2. Electronic design and manufacturing are finished.
    3. 3. Programming has also been finished.
    4. 4. User interface, database and web application is completed.

    What tasks remain?

    1. The last challenge is to implement a dissemination plan for DsBOX, raising awareness on its necessity, use and contribution to service delivery. I am also thinking of chosing a sample of administrative entities to serve as a pilot to test usage and implementation of DsBOX.

    What has worked? What hasn't?

    1. While working on DsBOX project, each component of my system demonstrated excellent functionality during the testing phase. I successfully tested the LCD Display, the Buttons responsible for providing and collecting feedback on the quality of received service, and the ESP-WROOM-32 is programmed to read collected feedback and send it the server (which is now a local host server).

Now the challenge is to get a remote server for DsBOX. Till now I want to utilize a remote server to facilitate seamless communication between administrative entities and customers (citizens). Through a web application, the in-charge personnel can easily access and view the feedback collected from customers directly on their computers. This remote server solution enhances efficiency and enables convenient monitoring of customer interactions, enabling prompt responses and effective decision-making.

What questions need to be resolved?

    1. What is the best strategy and/or tool can be used to promote good service delivery, enabling citizen (customers) participation and effective decision-making in good good governance.

    What will happen when?

    1. My upcoming plan involves continuous learning and enhancing my DsBOX project. I aim to develop a digital tool that elevates good governance and enhances service delivery. Being a professional in the makerspace domain, my strong desire is to expand my knowledge in computer-aided design, electronics production, digital innovation, programming, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
    1. My final project (DsBOX) slide and video will be completed by June 06, 2023

    2. The presentation of my final project is on June 07, 2023

    3. I am planning to be in Bhutan from July 25 to July 28, 2023 in order to attend the Fab Academy graduation as well as participate in the 19th Edition of the International Fab Lab Conference and Symposium.

What knowledge has been acquired (learned)?

Through my experience of doing Fab Academy (2023 intake), I have gained the understanding of so many things including the following:
    1. I have gained expertise in effectively managing time, maintaining thorough documentation, and adeptly navigating tight schedules.

    2. I have developed a strong proficiency in utilizing various software tools for 2D and 3D design specifically tailored for digital fabrication. These tools include Inkscape, pencil2D, Adobe Photoshop, VCarve Pro, CorelDraw, Fusion360, Solidworks, among others.

    3. I have acquired experience in operating CNC machines for both additive manufacturing, such as 3D printing, and subtractive processes like CNC milling.

    4. I have gained hands-on experience working with laser technology machines, such as laser cutters.

    5. I have developed proficiency in designing electrical boards using software tools like Kicad and EasyEDA.

    6. I have honed my skills in embedded programming for simulation and interfacing purposes, utilizing programming languages like Arduino, Python, Processing, and more.

    7. I have gained expertise in the assembly process, wiring, and the implementation of serial communication protocols.
