Week_17: Invention, Intellectual Property and Business Models

The whole point of this project is to make the most people more aware of the air we are breathing so I'm uploading all of the files and documentation freely on this website, I would love that people got inspired by this kind of sculptures and tried to make their own. I know that it's easier to build something with references, documentation and knowing beforehand what kind of mistakes to avoid, I mean, I would've saved so much time if i knew what NOT to do.
The plan is to take the sculpture to public spaces, art festivals and galleries around Puebla, and possibly México City, to increase the interest in the synergy between Digital Fabrication and engineering processes with art and design, since both can be working very close to each other.

Licensing

I really didn't have a notion on licensing before doing this research, and since the project is to be shared, the most adequate license for it is something called Creative Commons. It is a non-profit international organization focused in the shared knowledge and culture with a huge community. "We advocate for better sharing: sharing that is contextual, inclusive, just, equitable, reciprocal, and sustainable." They work with different kinds of licenses depending on the use that can be done with them around the world, for example, the one I am choosing is called Attribution 4.0 International (CC by 4.0) in which all the people can share, copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format, it can also be remixed, transformed and built upon, even for commercial purposes, with the attribution of credit to the original creator, provide a link to the license and indicate if changes were made to the original work. Also it restricts legal terms and technological measures to restrict others from doing the same. Their website is very friendly and intuitive with lots of information in legal and regular terms so everyone can understand them. It is as easy as embedding the code on the footer of your website, or the PNG on your work. Creative Commons

The Video and Slide

For the video, I aimed to do it as dramatic and cinematic as possible, as the point is to acknowledge the poor air quality we breath in the cities, so I took some stock videos of wildfires, volcanoes erupting and traffic, with renders, photos and videos of the final project.

The slide took a different turn as I wanted to explain each of the processes used on the sculpture, as well as information in general on the concept and design flow. slide Thank you very much for reading! Check the Final project website to learn about the whole process of design, fabrication and debugging.
