About me¶
Hello everyone! Jean-Nicaise AKAFFOU is my name. I am a associate professor at Felix Houphouet Boigny National Polytechnic Institute in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire. As a associate professor, I teach industrial automation, microcontroller programming and electrical installation in the administration of the institute, I am in charge of the coordination service of the training programs and the manager of the Fab Lab.
The INP-HB Fab Lab, called YelloLab, is a gift to the INP-HB from the MTN cell phone company, through the MTN Foundation. Through this donation, the company’s Managing Director aims to provide a training framework for our country’s future elites. I coordinate the activities of the Fab Lab, and I’m delighted to take part in the Fab Academy. I’m also working on setting up a second Fab Fab, which is a UNDP donation. To support INP-HB’s efforts in covid manufacturing, the UNDP has donated several pieces of equipment. I am also founder of a mini Fab Lab Akuna lab. All these Fab Labs make the INP-HB a hub for Fab Labs and an environment conducive to training. Many of the INP-HB Director General’s efforts are aimed at forging new partnerships with other institutes and schools around the world. And partnering with MIT is a dream we cherish. So to have training from an MIT professor like Neil is a pleasure for us. I hope to gain as much knowledge as possible from this training and share it with my students. For me, the Fab Academy is a great adventure that I’ve always dreamed of.
