Overview¶
Subject Pages¶
The elctronics section has several pages dedicated to the topics we encountered. They are listed below.
I’ve made a separate page for all aspects of making electronic connections. This includes soldering, connectors, harnesses etc.
This page is about the measurement equipment we have available at De Waag. It was part of week 2 group assignment to have a look into them and learn how to use them.
Page about schematics and PCB design for electronics. I used KiCAD for the assignment of week 6 to redesign the hello-world board.
Because input and output are related - usually u use an input device to control an output device - I have combined these topics on one page.
Settings¶
Some settings are important to have at hand. The main item here are the settings – aka design rules – for the lay out in KiCAD.
parameter | value | unit | remarks |
---|---|---|---|
normal trace width | 0,2 ~ 0,4 | mm | 0,4 is standard, for dense boards go to 0,2 |
power trace width | 1,0 | mm | optional to be filled with solder for extra conductance |
distance between traces | ≥ 0,4 | mm | for trace milling bit of 1/64” (0,3969 mm) |
via for PDIP diameter | 0,6 | mm | e.g. for gate driver |
via for PDIP drilling hole | 0,8 | mm | |
via for TO-220 diameter | 1,0 | mm | e.g. for mosfet |
via for TO-220 drilling hole | 1,4 | mm |
