Work log - Week 10 - March 30, 2022¶
Frankly, I was so busy this week, I didn’t even really keep a worklog.
Wednesday - 3/30¶
Spent time in class, and worked on documentation.

Thursday 3/31¶
Friday 4/1¶
Spent a bunch of time with Cori working on machining her mold.
We got that finished and were able to pour her mold. It came out very nice.
Saturday 4/2¶
Sunday 4/3¶
Monday 4/4¶
Tried fixing my SAMD11 and ADXL434 accelerometer boards. I managed to fix 1 of my SAMD11 boards (the one where I had originally switched the GND and 5v of the USB). After fixing this, replacing the regulator, I was still having a 5v to GND short however.
I finally tracked it back to the ADXL 434 accelerometer. I removed this and resolder it. This fixed the short issue. However, I was not able to get the board to “see” the accelerometer when I programmed it.
I tried another SAMD11 board with the add-on ADXL343 board, but this didn’t see the accelerometer through the i2c protocol either. I tested it with another i2c device, which it did see, so I know that at least the board is capable of detecting i2c devices.
The final SAMD11 board was greviously injured by the poor quality of the copper board (warped completely) and very poor tape holding ability, and this board didn’t seem to have any shorts, but I was unable to program it. I’ll continue experimenting with it. I have a feeling the problem is that the chip is not getting power. But the board is so bad, with so many broken traces, I’m not sure.
Tuesday 4/7¶
Helped Denny with his mixing and casting of his mold. We were able to use his leftovers of his pour and make a couple of my pieces. I’ve now learned, you should always have an extra mold lying around for all the extra resin/silicon/whatever that you’ll have mixed and need to do something with. Better to use it than to waste it.
