My board (Kimchi Mandu V2)

I created a new microcontroller board using the SAMD21. My previous board had some silly mistakes and I eventually destroyed it while trying to. The new board breaks out most of the free pins to headers so that I can create “shields” and other expansion boards for it.

Extra: National Museum of Finland

Sometimes a simple potentiometer is enough if you connect it to an interesting object. In this project, I’m using an old engine order telegraph from a ship. It controls the speed and direction of the projected images scrolling either forwards or backwards in time. I had made this installation for the National Museum of Finland in 2017. This week, I had to go there to replace the projectors that were approaching the end of their life (after 20 000 hours). At the same time, I also recalibrated the sensor. I thought it might be interesting to see in connection with the topic this week.

The sensor is connected wirelessly to the computer running the project using an XBee radio module.
