Tasks for a week
Individual Assignments
This week is wild card week, and I'd like to design an Ice Cube tray for myself. I'm designing in solid work.
First, I opened Solid Work and created a new file called ice cube tray, following which I set up the plan in Solid Work.
At first, I chose the Top plane.
Now I have sketched the 285*150mm Rectangle.
After that, I extrude the Rectangle and draw an ice cube in the foreground.
To cut the ice cube, use the Extrude cut command.
Now using linear pattern command to add another ice cube in vertical position.
The result of two Cubes.
With the help of two cubes, apply the linear pattern command to create all cubes at the front side of the tray.
The ice cube tray's final result.
All setting are finished , So now generate the tool path for the CNC Shopbot machine.
click on the tool path menu and select the roughing tool path.
Go to the preview and check the preview selected tool path speed the close it.this is the Roughing toolpath.
Now again generate the tool path for the finishing
Go to the preview and check the preview selected tool path speed the close it.this is the finishing toolpath.
This is the final mold after roughing , finishing and cutting.
This is the finishing video of the ice cube tray.
It appears to be the desired result after removing the mold from the machine.
In our wildcard week, we chose to work on composites. The composites is about making shapes or objects by using Epoxy Resin and Jute. Since jute itself is not strong enough to form hard shapes so it is combined with the resin and are placed in the shape of layers of both one over another. Then the design is left for a day or two inorder for resin to cure properly and after that we have got a solid and strong structure.
The ratio of Resin and Hardener is mixed in 5:4 and the total quantity is 3xweight of a material which is 249.5gm approximate.
The plastic layer is covered on mold so it safe from Resin and can be use again.
Put the whole experiment into air bag which is used to suck the air and build pressure on composite to attain the shape.
The results were to much fine So I thought to cut the extra part of the composite and make it look better.
