About me Assignments Final project

How to make (almost) anything.

Analog projects

Eunice Lee is a yoga instructor, she made a "Hourglas lamp for guided breathing". This was designed to help people to calm down during a meditation practice. I like the esthetic of the hourglass on clear resin, sturdy but translucent to let the light flow, but I agree with her, the 3D printed one looked much better. The user interface of the device is very simple and I think it is the best part of the design, it turns on with a tilt sensor.

Slow glass slide

Anne Vlaanderen made a project called "Pensieve", a mindfulness tool to change the mood of the user with color lights and scents. This is a very ambitious project, it amazes me how she could develop a device with so many controllers in such a short time.

Commercial alternatives

Dodow. This is the closest product to what I have in mind, its price is close to $60 and I'm sure I can create a more affordable alternative with more features.

Philips Wake up light. Useful for people who don't have windows in their bedroom to let the sun in at dawn. Integrating lighting and relaxing sounds to a conventional alarm clock seems like a good option.
