1. Principles and practices

This week I worked on defining my final project idea and started to getting used to the documentation process.

Dual Axis Solar Tracker

Initial Project Proposal

Availability of pure Water is foreseen as one of the major crises facing the planet in the coming years. This is due to the ineffecient cycle of existing desalination process where high amounts of thermal energy added to marine life, low recovery of fresh water and high energy consumption are the main draw backs of the existing technologies. The usage of sun ray to effectively generate steam would be an ideal solution to provide water, generate energy & avoid over heating of water bodies. A simple yet effective way to concentrate sun rays to achieve high levels of heating is by utilizing frensil lens while h

My project is a simple minute part within this visionary idea that focuses on creating a simple dual axis solar tracker that can follow sun movement to achieve the highest yield of energy at all times. We shall be utilizing the different topics and tools provided at Fablab to build and control this proto machine

Described what it will do and who will use it

The machine design will be able to follow the sun ray during different times of the day and year, to make sure lens are always perpendicular to the ray. This device will be the main source of collecting solar energy to enable heating and vaporization of water to generate steam and desalinate.
