This week is about the inventions and intellectual property of our final project.

Intellectual properties and future

Intellectual properties

The spirit of the fab labs is to work with the community so I will do the same with my project. Since the final project was carried out during and for the fab academy, I leave my intellectual property to the community. This project is therefore free of rights. One thing that is important to me is to work together to build something better on someone else's foundations. This is how we can make faster progress in innovation. What I find ridiculous about product development is when people develop the same thing on their own to create the same thing. It is much more efficient to put time, energy and resources together to make a product even better than both sides could have done on their own.

Good news my project is tagged
openSource
Now that I want my project to be open source, I have to choose a type of open source license. To do this, I visited the site choosealicense.com to help me make a decision. I know that my intention is to allow possible improvements and contribute to the community but I don't want my projects to be used to distributed a closed source version. So I chose the license GNU General Public License v3.0.

To see the complete list of opensource licenses you can visit the following site.

Future possibilites

In the future, I will continue to improve my project after the Fab Academy because a little cat is waiting to have its own personalized fountain. I will make this future probable thanks to my knowledge acquired during the course. People are strongly encouraged to take over the project to improve it. You are also invited to write to me with any questions or comments that may help me to improve the project. I do not plan to make a commercial version of my product.

Draft video

In my video I want to demonstrate the following elements:
  • Show the laser cutting process.
  • Show the 3D printing process.
  • Show the assembly process of the water distributor.
  • Show the final product.
  • Show that the light flashes when the water level is low.
  • Show that the light turns on when it is dark in the room and off when it is bright in the room.
  • Show that the pump is running when there is a presence in front of the fountain.
  • Show the process of the water being pumped and that the waterfall is flowing.
