Hi! I'm Laura Micaló, a student
at the Fab Academy in Fab Lab BCN.

During 2015 I’ll follow 3 certificates
although I’d do all of them if I could.

The three certificates I joined are:

About Me

I was born in Girona the 1980.
In 2005 I accomplished the architecture studies at the ETSAV (Escola Tècnica Superior d'Arquitectura del Vallès) from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. I acquired some experience collaborating in several architecture offices up to 2006. In 2006 I started working in the tridimensional representation department of the ETSAV university, the CAIRAT. There I started to appreciate geometry in architecture, studying Antoni Gaudí’s buildings, developing 4D navigation surroundings or optimizing tridimensional grids. During all these years I became an advanced user of infographic and 3D software (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Skecht Up, 3DStudio, etc.) I use to work with Bentely’s products for any job in which I need CAD, I must say that I’m also able to work with Autodesk but I still prefer Bentley’s.
Since 2007 I’ve been teaching I a vocational training school, Interior Design specifically. This job is overlapping a little bit with the Fab Academy lessons.
In 2009, together with a partner, we found an Architecture Office, DinA5 Architects. We develop all kind of architecture but always trying to add a bit of uncommon design. Step by step each one of us has followed his own path: health and architecture in one side and infographic at the other, our next step is digital fabrication.
What I expect from these studies is to have tools and knowledge enough to develop more particular and local projects arriving to the office.
I love photography, trekking, swimming, painting and anything related to arts and crafts, geometry, product design etc.
Because of my job at the school I’ve chosen to follow only 3 certificates, the three of them which, I believe, fit better in my professional field, however, I’ve found out that all the certificates are, in one way or another, related to each other.
In 2004 I made a 6 months Erasmus internship in Berlin, I decided to learn German and not English. Therefore now I’m able to talk a little bit each language but none of them good enough, since I stopped practicing. Anyways I must say that I understand English pretty well which allows me to follow the lectures and the resources. To improve my English is one of the tasks this experience at the Fab Academy will give me for sure.
