Electronics Design

Test many EDA, time trial making electronics

Testing Blue.

When the deliver's give software.

FABISP FABISP Farnell have eagle. RS amidata has designspark, and now Mouser have Multisim blue.

Niel invite us to test Blue, so i was curious too, so i did it.

Things that Blue promise's:
  • Free
  • Schematic design tool
  • Pcb design tool
  • Simulation toll
  • Many layers
  • Connected to mouser cart directly.

First thing i don't like in Blue it's an heavy program. 800Mb

Only works in windows

But i still go and try it. But when i do that i discoverer that there are no mcu from Atmel in database, only from microchip. But i will try to make one and put them there.

Redesign the hello world Board.

My old friend Eagle.

I'm an electronic engineer so this my ground, i start designing circuit's in Protel, today's Altium.

First when i try eagle i find it very strange with look like linux command's. But eagle have a thing, have plenty off ready to go libraries. So i began with it. FABISP In this week task i try something different.

Neil said that is possible to complete a PCB in one Hour.

So i try a time trial to myself.

I have used fablibrary, and eagle 7, my first attempt in that version.

Design in eagle is easy for me indeed, but the routing the pcb is an art in fact. So i cheat a bit and inspire my ICSP conector position and locations, and the with of the traces in the hello world finished board. Because of that delay i spend most than an hour designing the circuit. But fabricate the circuit, well that i do it in minutes, thank's Fabmodules :) FABISP

After the fabrication i began solder the mcu, and than horror.... an Error... FABISP

Well i'm in a time trial so i began to solder another board.

Made the pcb and solder all the component's.

FABISP Time trial result's in 3 hours with biobreak in the middle, i design a board, made two, and solder it.

FABISP I thing the idea of Neal is correct is simple and quick to build a pcb, and is mutch better than bread board's or perforated board's.

Great technology this.

FABISP After lunch i just put the blink code in it, with MKII programmer, and with Arduino.

Thank's Nuno Farinha for the help. I follow this tutorial to do that.

Reprogram fabisp

Fight again...

In the 4th week i made the fabISP, great week where i find how to build quick and easy a pcb.

I try to program it, but not work.

All the the step's in Mac run's smoothly, but when i connect the fabisp to the PC it not recognise it.

I try to resolder all the component's and notting.

I try to reprogram it in windows and nothing.

Windows - i found an issue, windows 8.1 64 bit not runs well winavr compilation, said rm.exe have a problem.

My suspicion goes to burn outed attiny, or avrdude line in make file wrong.

Still working on it.

The Ha Haaaa moment. I finaly find the issue, i have one miss resitance. 4993(499KΩ) instead of 4990(499Ω) FABISP

Here is the link to this week files. :)
