Week 8: computer-controlled machining

This week assignment is to make something big.

I decided that it should be something useful. So I decided to make a shelf for notebooks of my students,

because they take up too much space on my desk. After some searching, I found the perfect corner shelves, which can be decorated with different formulas.

 

It consist of 3 main details. I designed them in CorelDraw:

Next step is to translate this png to ShopBot trajectory. In our lab we use ArtCam to do this.

In this process the main moments is the thickness of matherial and the parameters of end mill.

I use 6 mm endmill and 18 mm plywood.

Then, usinng ShopBot i can cut my details
