Week 15: Applications and Implications

What will it do?

 

My final project will be a 3D 8x8x8 LED cube controlled by fabduino board.

Consist of 512 LEDs, it can display some kind of 3D signs.

 

Who's done what beforehand?

 

There is a lot of different projects about LED cubes in the internet, some of them are commercial, so you can buy some parts for cube.

 

What materials and components will be required?

 

 

Where will they come from?

 

LEDs, ICs and resistors i bought, all other components i found in our fablab.

 

How much will it cost?

 

 

 

What parts and systems will be made?

 

All parts for my project will be made by myself, all information will be on my final project page!

 

What questions need to be answered?

 

The main question for me was how to controll 512 elements using fabduino board and i did it.

In my project i use only 8+3=11 pins to controll all cube.

 

What is the schedule?

 

1) Create or find all electronic components 31.05

2) Solder the cube and test it 2.06

3) Design the main control board, mill and solder it 5.06

4) Join togather all parts 7.06

5) Program the cube 8.06

6) Design the case and cut it 9.06

5) Install all electronic components into the case 10.06
