Final project update
Beat lamp (shows a happy melody)
The beat lamp is a visualization of what the name implies, a music beat. The lamp will visualize a beat from a happy song to see if it will influence the users happiness. When a person listens to a happy song people start moving, and this behaviour often leads to a happier state of mind. We want to try to see if we could reach the same effect with the use of light. If the light would twinkle in a melodious rhythm, could this influence a person's mood?
Friend lamp (shows the status of your friend)
Give your personal lamp to a friend so he or she is updated on your happiness and goals. Social connections is for most people an important part of their daily lives and considered a key influence on their happiness. With this in mind, we want to create sets of lamps that people can give to their close ones, so they can show how they feel by communicating with light. When a person sees that his or her friend is not feeling too well, this gives them the opportunity to step-in and hopefully improve their friends mood . This would serve as a less direct approach than needing to call someone because one does not feel to happy.
Magnet lamp:
With the use of the earlier made Happiness Book we will visualize someone’s needs. The needs of a person are sorted and selected with the use of the happiness book. The magnets will be specified with a certain colour. When the user places a magnet on their happiness book the persons lamp will light up in that colour. So, this will be a visualisation of the users needs. These colours can be default colours so you can also share your needs with your friends. For example if the user has a need for healthy food they can make a healthy lunch together. The brightness of the lamp can also reflect the importance of a certain need.
