MartinRisseeuw how to make almost anything

Invention, intellectual property, and income

The happiness lamp is still in a testing stage for the concept developers at Waag Society. We want to see how it can influence peoples happiness. On the website of Waag (Institute for art, science and technology) we are writing blog posts to explain design for happiness and the happiness lamp we are writing about our research and our findings. This project is a social design project and in my opinion happiness should be free and not be linked to money. I would prefer to give people the ability to make their own lamp in any Fablab and also improve it where possible. People should join the happiness research.

I would like to share my thoughts on happiness through talks around the world with as main goal to explain why we created the happiness lamp. As the description tells us one thing everyone has in common is their need for happiness. The happiness lamp is a never ending project and people should keep evolving it to the ideas they personally have about happiness.

For me as designer I hope the lamp will give me exposure in the (open) design field.

Different lamps for different users:
I want to create two type of lamps one is for the user as maker that means the user can create their own shape at any fablab with the documentation of the lamp. This way can someone make their lamp personal. When we look at design we see that everyone has different taste why not give someone the opportunity to express their own taste through the happiness lamp.

The second type is a pre made lamp for the people who don’t have interest in building their own lamp. It’s a aesthetically pleasing object that would fit nice on everyones desk or table.

Dissemination:
The dissemination will mostly happen online. I want to share my story by writing about the project by contacting and writing on social innovative websites.
