Week 1: Project Overview
Looking to diversify my approach and utilize multiple tools at my disposal, I did two basic sketches: one by hand on paper which was then scanned and the other directly on my iPad with a stylus using the Bamboo Paper app by Wacom. Though I love my iPad, I think the paper sketch was easier to create.

Goals
- Develop the project specifics, i.e. what I want to achieve
- Sketch-out the basic chessboard with individual player clocks/timers
- Use several mediums/methods to create some initial renderings
- Post artifacts and reflections to personal class website
Explorations
- Did a first paper/pencil sketch of a chessboard with player clocks
- Scanned paper sketch, used Photoshop to downsample to a smaller png-formatted file
- Used Wacom Bamboo Paper app on an iPad Air with a Wacom stylus to (attempt to) create a second sketch with color detail
- Updated personal class website to reflect this week's work
Learning Outcomes
- Sketching on the iPad with a stylus was not as intuitive as paper/pencil, though did provide some nice features
- I need to reel-in my project a bit from the initial idea; start with one main feature (auto-timing)
