VASCO COSME

week 16.

This week's assignement was to...

Plan and document a final project that integrates the range of units covered

What will it do?
It will, at programmed times, weight and release a certain amount of dog food.

who's done what beforehand?
There are several examples of such machines, the only difference between my project and the ones that i found online is that my machine will (hopefully) weight the food with precision.

what materials and components will be required?
it will have these main parts:
- outer box and its dividers for parts support - 5mm plywood
- storage compartment - plastic bag or polypropilene sheet, folded
- feeding mechanism - PVC pipe + 3d printed feeding screw + motor
- weight mechanism - weighting box + spring system + magnet + hall effect sensor
- releasing mechanism - sliding bottom lid with motor or magnetic lock

where will they come from?
- plywood, pvc pipe - Leroy Merlin
- polypropilene sheet - staples
- 3d printed parts - my finally assembled and functioning 3d printer!!
- hall effect sensor - from my previous week assignment

how much will it cost?
i don't know exactly, but i want it to stay below the 40 euros.

what parts and systems will be made?b>
everything will be made or cut, except for the electronic components. I might use a water pipe curve (''elbow'') of PVC that i will cut.

what processes will be used?
Mechanical design, 2d design, 3d modelling, laser cutting, 3d printing, circuit production (milling, printing and assembling), input and output devices, programming, interface design and programming), painting. And stressing a lot, i presume!!! ;)

what tasks need to be completed?
Every task!! (i'm a bit late on schedule, but i'm getting ready to dive into the final project FULL-TIME!!)

what questions need to be answered?
will the hall effect sensor work for precision measuring? And will the machine survive my dog's attacks?

what is the schedule?
22th - final design and fisrt prints and cuts
23th - assembling parts
24th - mechanical tests
26th - until June 4th - electronics & programming
how will it be evaluated?
Proper functioning and exact weighting
