Finally out
(but only briefly so)
I bought an ultimaker original 3d printer for Christmas to offer myself. It left Holland on Christmas Eve but for some reason travelled all around europe before getting to Portugal, so it arrived around the 15th of January.
To prepare myself to Fabacademy i decided not to open the 3d printer box for it not to distract me from the preparation of fabacademy.
But today i could+'t resist opening it. It comes packed with 5 layers of components for assembly, and as a good susprise there is kepton tape and a pack of filament inside (i had ordered an additional filamen pack and some tekton tape.
But unfortunatelly i need to finish my week_1 assignements, so it will have to wait a little longer... but it's already at fablab edp and in the free time i'll take some help from my fabcoleagues and it'll come alive (hopefully) soon.Fingers crossed!

Mini Makers
On the past weekend i visited Pavilhão do Conhecimento, a portuguese science museum in the Expo area of Lisbon. It's a wonderful place, with amazing architecture and a great permanent collection of interactive experiments on science themes. It's incredibly entertaining, and you really need a whole day there to explore all they have to offer. I've been there before , but this time i went for a 'LittleBits' (www.littlebits.cc) workshop with my kid and 2 friends. It was a nice beginning for these makers-to-be, though there were maybe too many people for the amount of Littlebits, and a lack of support materials for bulding interesting experiments. (kids don't find funny to see a motor working if all they see moving is a 2mm axis... But i saw the potencial of Littlebits in their hands, maybe i have to get myself some bits soon...

Today is the day
In the morning of January 29th, the first day in fabacademy 2014, i was greeted with this huge rainbow on the road to FablabEDP. That's a luck sign and i bet it will bring good luck to all fabers. Or maybe it was just a linux-ninja-skills-rainbow that Neil had assembled for us, who knows?
