During the semester I have decided to leave my initial idea to create a textile wrapping machine, that can translate the wrapping technique ( a technique I have developed to create 3d bodies out of fabric bands) into digital fabrication process, I realized it would be too ambitious to create in such a short time.
Instead I choose to create a puppetry, which will combine new technologies and disciplines I have learned and practice during the fab academy, as well as the traditional textile and doll making technique I already use for years.
One of the thing that I will take with me from the course is the relations between crocheting and programing and digital production process, I have mentioned it in my composite materials assignment.
in my final project I would like to keep on researching this idea while dealing with combination between disciplines that seem to be controversial
TYhis is composition:
The flow diagram can explain how it is going to work:
The puppetry will include two figures-a human and a dog, as well as back screen and other decoration accessories.
Puppets will react (turn heads over, barking, tail wag etc...) to the audience activities, around the puppetry like -movement, distance and voices.
The back screen, will be created out of textile material in free quilting technique and will be designed as a city decoration.
The back screen, will be created out of textile material in free quilting technique and will be designed as a city decoration, it will include few leds, which will lightened, darken, blinked and dimmed as results of audience activities as well.
The audience will turn on puppetry reaction but it would be some kind of mystery to figure out which activity couse which reaction.
there are few projects that deal with computer controlled puppets here are my favorites: Jhon Steed Marionette Tj* The Animatronic Puppet Gal Sasson's Puppetry
I came across this moneky who reacting to audience movements.
In the textile field I came across this textile animation

My goal with this project is to create communication between the audience and the puppetry, I wish that it will act like a riddle or mystery for the audience to figure out what cause the puppetry reactions, so it would be something people investigate and curious about.
Another challenge for me creating this project is to creating organic combinations between the textile crafts and the technologies
