I live in the mountains, and I love them. And as a final project, I am going to make ski's.
I have been working in diverse labs for quite some time now, and I feel comfortable with almost all techniques, safe for composites .
Next to that my knowledge of electronics needs a boost, so this project will incorporate both.
To build the ski's I'll first need to construct a press, in which I'll put a heating system (probably 's gonna be a heated blanket), and electronics to measure the pressure and the temperature. Next up will be preparing / cutting / machining all the pieces and then bonding them together with the press. Basically the press will be a steel structure in which I'll put the wooden bottom and top mold, between which I'll put some lay flat hose that I'll inflate with a compressor. The hose will press the materials together for about 10 hours, after which the ski's will have to be cut clean. Then I'll put bindings on them, and it will be time to try them out! |

The wooden molds will be pieces of 18mm wood cut with the shopbot, that I'll assemble to form the ski shapes. |
