This week I modified my 3D model in Vectorworks for fabrication on the Laser cutter. Again I used Vectorworks, this time to slice and subtract for manufacture from 4 millimeter Acrylic sheet.
Here you can see me again tracing the components and the chosen model in 3d into a series of ‘layers’ that represent the Acrylic sheet. I found this method useful as you can see what the final assembly will look like in 3d.
Once I was happy with the tolerances and form, I put Vectorworks into ‘plan’ view, nested and exported the view as a generic EPS. The EPS file was then opened in Adobe Illustrator.
Here is the result out of the laser cutter
And myself modeling it.
