5. 3D Scanning and printing
3D Printing
With this weeks topic I'm partly familaer with. First time I was part of a project that started using 3D printers to make soldering jigs for small patch electronisc production was 8 years ago. The printer was Ultimaker 2. Year later I bought my own printer to learn about structure of the machines and to practise building one. So I'm some what familiar with printers themself, but most of the cases I have been responsible for upkeeping the printers and solving problems with the print. Times I have to make desing for the printing have been only few.
When I stardet thinking desing for the 3D printing assigment, first thing to come in mind was nested conical shapes. One example of this desing would be grinder, but usually they are made from assemblys.
Skeleton model of the desing in Fusion 360.
Slice view of the desing.
Extruded body for the desing.
Printed part.
I had to make small adjustment for the outer part to allow more build plate surface to contact inner part. Before adjustment inner part didn't stick to the print bed and got loose during printing process.
