Work

For this week, the task was to build a machine. The machine that I decided to create was a drawing machine that would draw on a touchpad screen (TV-like) device that our lab had access to.

There had been previous work done by other people similar to the machine I was trying to build, so I considered multiple aspects of the machine by looking at other people’s works.

I realized that I had to use stepper motors and also realized that we had to make a gondola in which the pen could be held in for it to draw on the screen.

I also encountered polargraph, a software that uses XY plotters and coordinate space to simulate and move.

Here are some things that I had to consider for the gondola: 1) 2 axis machine 2) gondola needs a pen holder and 2 parts that holds onto the stepper motors (connected) 3) need parts that grabs on to the pulley belt 4) part that attaches the servo motor

Therefore, the parts to consider were: 1) parts that attaches to the weight 2) parts that attach to the pulley belt 3) parts that attach the servo motor and the hole that the servo motor will push on 4) the pen holder part (hole large

The video below, which was used to present during the class, goes through the steps that I took with my instructor to create the machine.
