Who am I?

My name is John Proctor. I was born and raised in Massachusetts, and I've spent most of my time living in Fitchburg MA, a small city in the north central part of the state. I went to school at a very small, very poor private high school right down the road from my house. When I say poor I'm not speaking about the quality of the education, but just the fact that it was very underfunded. For example in the winter we would need to come in dressed as though we were going to be outside because the school couldn't afford to run the heat. When I say small though I mean exactly what you think except I'm not sure if you would guess how small. I graduated my senior year with two other students. Your first thought may be that I was lying about the quality of the school and most student simply didn't graduate. Nope. We had a 100% graduation rate.

Upon graduating highschool I began going to Wheaton College in Norton Ma; not to be confused with the one in Illinois. Starting school I was pretty sure that I wanted to major in physics, I was good at math, and liked science it seemed like it would be a great fit. Turn out I'm not really cut out to be a physicist, and now I'm majoring in chemistry and minoring in physics. I'm happy that I started out a physics major though because that is how I began to get more involved with Wheaton's fablab. Due to my situation in high school I had had no experiance with digital fabrication. Getting into it was amazing. I struggled to wrap my head around the capability of the resources at my disposal. When I found out the school would be offering a half credit course on digital fabrication I jumped at it. After finishing the course I felt like I had a decent groundwork of knowledge in the field, but I knew it was just a ground work. That is why when I saw that we were going to be offering Fab Academy through the school I was stoked and couldn't wait to take it. All of that leads me to now. I have gone through the first week of lectures and left them feeling more excited than I had going in. To be a part of a movement of creators all around the world is great and I'm looking forward to see how the rest of this semester goes!
