Aplications and implications 📋

🕘 Date / Time:

Hello there mates ^^. Welcome to my final project draaaaaaft ^^
Hey there fellows, Here you are being introduced you to my final project. ^^

Marionette puppets had always been a mystery to me as a kid, I enjoyed watching them _except for the creepy ones :D_ and envied those skillful puppeteers and wished that one day I can hold a marionette puppet, be able to manipulate it such as smooth..

Joining Fab Academy, I thought why can't I give that wish a little boost? ^^
Why can't I have those slight string pulls done by a couple of motors, programmed and synchronized to perform a series of smooth movments that give life to the marionette puppet?
Actually I suppose I can. ^^
And that's what I'm intending to do.

My project as Q & A.. ^^

What will it do?

- A motorized marionette puppet performing a salut and a steady walking motion.

Who's done what beforehand?

No one did exactly as I'm planning to do but there were some similar projects.
- Basic implementation moving arms and legs using servo motors.
- High quality puppetbut only eyes and jaw move.

What will you design?

- The puppet, stage, lighting and circuits.

What materials and components will be used?

- Materials:
For the puppet: I am yet to decide as there are alot of options such as wood, epoxy or PLA.
For the theatre: I'm using wood and Velor.
- Components:
Servo motors, stepper motors, timing belts, pullies, micro controllers, may be sensors and other electronic components as well.

Where would they come from? & How much will they cost?

What parts and systems will be made?

1- The puppet.
2- The satge.
3- The mechanical control mechanism.
4- The control circuits.

What processes will be used?

1- 2D and 3D design.
2- electronics design & production.
3- embedded programming.
4- Laser cutting.
5- Molding and casting.

What questions need to be answered?

1- What will be the material of the puppet?
2- How big will the puppet be and accordingly the theatre?
3- According to the material and size of the puppet what size of a servo motor am I gonna use and would I be limitted by low voltages and tourqes?
4- What is the minimum number of joints needed to be controlled in order to get a decent walking motion?

How will it be evaluated?

Evaluation would be on the:
- Functionality of the puppet (The puppet is able to perform any sort decent smooth movement).
- Neatness of the puppet and the theatre finishing.
