The objective of my final project is to design, model, manufacture, program, assemble, test and package a led lamp that reacts or interacts with the presence of a user, in addition to fulfilling the purpose of lighting a defined space. I plan to do this with what I can learn, develop and practice in this 20-week period, through the skills and abilities made available.
A good practice is to document through writing, images and videos each step of the progress of our assignments.
In essence my goal is to design, model and build an LED lamp with some characteristics that are not usually very common in this country. It is about creating an interactive object that serves as more than just a lamp. For this we will be guided by the accompaniment and use of electronics, programming, cutting equipment and other key elements of DIY generation, in order to facilitate the acquisition and use by parfte of those people or individuals who, out of mere curiosity or by a reason for distraction (psychological and mental), need a distraction from daily tasks with an object that is part of their daily lives.
For now I have no problem until I start working on each assignment which is where we will really realize what things I can do and what I need to reinforce and others that I will need to learn.
My first experience was meeting my local tutor and colleagues for the first video conference session with Professor Neil and international partners, here we saw an introduction to what has been planned for this training over 20 weeks, following the principles on which the Fab LAb is based and we were made the observation that the maximum size of our repository should be 100 Mb.
Previusly to this with the emails sent before this date, I read the fabacademy-assessment to get an idea of what I would have to deal with in training, this task is done at times.
In this space we met a little more the members of Panama and Honduras and began to share experiences and knowledge between students and tutor through virtual and essential classes...
Following the readings and guidance of the tutor, we begin by registering with Gitlab and logging in to later download and install Gitbash and configure it. Then we download and install Sublime Text 3 to edit the text and source code. Subsequently, a Bootstrap template was downloaded to the laptop and a folder dedicated to the website we are configuring was created. The index was taken to Sublime Text 3 and we learned to recognize where each part of the web page is and that it can be edited.
As a reference I took the template of Ahmed Eissa and as an example that of Michael Qiu.
With the use of the template, the different fields were edited and at times where I did not know what to do, I used the repository documents or the website https://www.w3schools.com/ to help me.
The collaboration between tutor and colleagues has been wonderful, especially because we are from different specialties or trades. For image editing use the Gimp software, which was excellent for the versatility it offers.
For some reason that I still don't understand, I had problems with the Gitlab password, until I reset it as 3 times and finally got it.
As I am not familiar with the language and operation of the web pages, it is taking me some time to understand how Git, Sublime and the visualization of the web index works and to find solutions I really help the w3schools.com page.
As for the images, I found at the end that my main folder was very heavy (Mb) and I used Gimp again to change the properties of each image and then upload them to Tinyjpg.com to compress them before uploading all the data to the Git repository.
When I began to imagine what I could do, I had some difficulties because I could not land on a clear idea, since every time I was annexing things that eventually led me to huge projects.
After thinking well I came to the conclusion that I should make an interactive project in the lobby of the Faculty of Architecture and Design, since it is the area where the social and communicative work for excellence is carried out in the faculty building.
The conceptual idea is to make an object that can be integrated into an intecative pavilion through sensors, motors and lights.
As I mentioned earlier, after a good couple of hours and days thinking, I finally think I have an object that I can bring to reality...
