FabAcademy 2020
Why Academy
Currently I am studying the Doctorate in Research Applied to Projects, so what I learned and developed at the Academy will be a fundamental part of my Doctoral research.
In order to make this connection as successful as possible and define the scope to be developed, I have based myself on the basic structure of the Academy itself, such as its duration, as well as the tasks that I have proposed to carry out at this time, with the idea of manufacturing a first prototype and draw my conclusions.
DESIGN OF AN ADAPTABLE BACKREST FOR THE CORRECTION OF LUMBAR POSTURE IN CHILDREN BETWEEN 6 AND 9 YEARS
Motivation
The idea and motivation of my project is based on my personal experience. I am fortunate to be the father of four children, one of whom was born with a small problem of muscle flaccidity. As his problem was very slight, we did not realize it until my son began to grow and we began to notice his posture problems, especially when sitting. Fortunately, and after an endless number of therapies, Santiago is a practically normal boy.
However, as a result of that experience, I was able to notice the precarious furniture, as well as the little awareness that there is in the schools of my country about the postural importance in children, especially when they begin to read and write.
That is why, my final project at the Academy will be to design and manufacture a "smart" first backrest that can be incorporated into a chair, and allows me to carry out various ergonomic analyzes specific to each child with a posture problem. To later take these data for the design of future prototypes until the final product development can be reached.
