PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES

In this week, in our local lab. We carry out the first design of the project.

1. Individual Assignment

plan and sketch a potential final project

1.1 INTRODUCCTION

Arthroscopy (ahr-THROS-kuh-pee) is a procedure for diagnosing and treating joint problems. A surgeon inserts a narrow tube attached to a fiber-optic video camera through a small incision — about the size of a buttonhole. The view inside your joint is transmitted to a high-definition video monitor.

1.2 MAIN PARTS OF THE ARTHROSCOPE

The main parts of an arthroscopy system are:

  • Camera
  • Light source
  • Arthroscopy instruments
  • Monitor

Although there are many more parts of the arthoscope. These are the main ones.

1.3 ARTHROSCOPY SIMULATOR

Arthroscopy simulators are very sophisticated devices that help the surgeon to train. In addition these teams are not available to most surgeons, especially those who are just beginning.

You can watch the video to know more about this (click here).

1.4 BASIC DESIGN

My project aims to perform an arthroscopy simulator. Based on the use of tomographies and resonances (images in DICOM format). I intend to mold a knee, to simulate the structure of a knee.

For the part of the equipment I intend to use a small camera with a high intensity LED. The images will be transmitted to the PC.
