Week 20: Project Development
Individual assignment
This week we will implement a project plan, apply time management techniques, summarise and communicate the essence of your project development.
Project plan
I restructured my project at a 1: 2 scale to show the functionality of the pavilion. I developed a diagram that allows me to organize my time in specific functions every day.
What tasks have been completed, and what tasks remain?
I completed almost all the tasks, I have the structure of the armed pavilion was one of the most difficult, since I needed a small hydraulic arm to hold it in the correct position. In addition, the cases were developed and placed in the structure without generating visual problems.
The tasks that I must perform are the connection of the wiring, not the cables of the source but of the cables that come out of the ATmega328 plate and the elaboration of the rails for the support of the tringular lids.
What has worked? what hasn't?
It was possible to generate the movement of the servomotors using light sensors, but it was not possible to generate the independent movement of each one of the servos. The wooden joints that join the horizontal supports of the source were made of wood, it was decided to change them to the aluminum material for safety and the plasma cnc cut was used.
What questions need to be resolved?
For now, the questions that should be answered are what type of rails should be used so that the coverage is fixed without leaving openings for better control inland.
What will happen when?
If it is decided to create the pavilion for a rainy climate, one should consider the change of exposed materials and a waterproof protector that does not allow water to enter the interior where the microcontrollers are located. On the other hand, if it is decided to increase the size, it is sufficient to modify the parameters of the pavilion and the geometry will cover the desired area.
What have you learned?
In the design part, I learned to play with the extension of the programs to take an object to another interface that is not compatible, that is to say, make a jump of three programs to achieve opening a file and work with the best comfort. In the part of 3D printing and CNC cutting, I learned the essence of modifying parameters to achieve a better finish and not waste so much material, time and cost.
Also, the most important thing for me was to learn electronica, at first I found it difficult to see a different language than what I'm used to (programs and engineering or architecture subjects), now I can program and design my own plates, although I still need to optimize space and aesthetics on the plates.
Finally, I learned that a project never ends, there is always something to improve, that is why I use an open source patent that allows me to share my designs with other people in the world and that they find this project based on functionality different
