First Idea

I have thought of a bit of stuff that could be useful in a central hub or designed to work with it.
The basic idea was a central hub in a smart home/home surveillance scenario.

This hub can just be as easy as a box with some buttons, LEDs and a display. Some sockets for power and network could also be useful. The hub could also be controlled by a smartphone app. The hub could contain some electronics to control everything, a battery as an independent power supply and a speaker as a siren.

In a surveillance context a keypad for unlocking as well as motion and door sensors could prove useful.

For the smart home functionality, a light switch as an input node would be good. Other devices to interact with could be something like a controllable power socket or some box that is put in the cable directly.
