Applications and Implications

this week assignement are:

  • Define the scope of a project
  • Develop a project plan

17 week after..

Here we are, 17 WEEK after the start of the FabAcademy. when we where imagine differentes type projects. Now we are into the last weeks of work for making them happen!
So this week i will start to work harder on my final project. and for starting we have to

Define the scope of a project

For doing this we will use the perfect question, we can find in the Assessement book.

what will it do?

My final project is Record booth, it will be a place where you can stand up in it where you can record Voice Over or song the record booth will be able to block some echo of the piece where you are trying to record, when you enter into the record booth, it will start a lamp above you and will start a panel in front of the door telling that a record is on.
the Record booth need to work flawlessly, it need to simplify the record part. not complicate it.

who has done what beforehand?

i tried to find a similar product, but i coudn't find it. we could buy separatly the different part for making it, (without sensor)
Some product exist, where you can buy for a 100€ you can add to your stand for your mic (cost 40€)
you can buy a Record Sign for 60€ .

what materials and components will be required?

My project need different component and material for the electronic part i'll need :
  • 4 X plywood 600mmX300mmX5mm (for the Pannel)
  • Acoustic Foam (for the pannel)
  • 2 X Attiny 85
  • 2 X RF433 (master and slave)
  • 1206 LED WHITE (for the sign)
  • Coin battery

where will they come from?

All the material on the list is available at the lab or found at home.

how much will it cost?

it will cost around 53,5€
  • 2 sheet of plywood 1200X600X22mm [approximatly 40€]
  • 4 X plywood 600mmX300mmX5mm [10€]
  • 4X Acoustic Foam 300X300[ 40€]
  • 2 X Attiny 85 [2€]
  • 2 X RF433 [1.50€]
  • 1206 LED WHITE [50 CENT]
  • Coin battery [50 CENT]

The answers to the questions above will allow you to create your BOM, or Bill Of Materials.

  • Acoustic Foam [40€] Amazon]
  • 2 sheet of plywood 1200X600X22mm approximatly 40€[Local store]
  • 4 X plywood 600mmX300mmX5mm 10€[local store]
  • 2 X Attiny 85 [ 1,64€ aliexpress]
  • 2 X RF433 [ 0,48€aliexpress]
  • 1206 LED WHITE[0.50€ aliexpress]
  • Coin battery[ 0,67€aliexpress]

what parts and systems will be made?

all the electronics & structure will be made.

what processes will be used?

The Record booth will be composed the CNC for the frame, the pannel foam too. the outside of the pannel will be engrave with the lasercut
the headphone support, hinges (for the pannels),and the enclosure for the electronic will be 3D printed.
All the electronic will be made with the SRM20.

what tasks need to be completed?

right now the conception of the pannel are ready the hinges was made during the 3Dprinting week and i already made the frame during the Something big week.
  • designing the 3D printed part.
  • cutting the pannel,
  • 3d print the enclosure for the Electronics
  • 3d print the Headphone support
  • mill & solder the electronics

what questions need to be answered?

433 MhZ Are the good component for what i need? it need to be not noising the HF transmitor of other record mic in the space. bluetooth can be an other solution.

what is the schedule?

  • june 1st to 3rd ==> making the electronic work on a breadboard
  • June 4th to 6th ==> modelisation&cutting the pannel with the CNC
  • June 6th to 9th ==> design mill & solder the pcbs
  • June 10th to 14 ==> designing the 3d printing enclosure and the headphone support
  • June 14th to 20 ==> (margin) making the videos, the slide and making some test of use.

how will it be evaluated?

does it making false positive -starting the outdoor sign pannel for no reason- ?

simple to evaluate. i have to pass by the record booth it shoudn't detect me, but when i really in it. it would.

is it more practical than a cloakroom -we are recording our voice over inside a cloakroom right know-

easy to say. with some couple recording we will see if it's more pleasant to use than the cloakroom -it will be easy to find out-

the RF433 make disturbance to the record signal with some HF mic?

For this one we have to record in the same time with an standard mic and an H.F mic.
if we having no jamming signal, that will be great.

The Record booth can be evaluated by the usage. does it tell people to be quiet clearly?

This one need time. we will see if people are still more quiet when the outside pannel is on after couple month of usage.
