JIN`s Fab Academy 2018:
How to make almost everything
week15: Mechanical Design
-group assignment-
- design a machine that includes mechanism+actuation+automation
- build the mechanical parts and operate it manually
- document the group project and your individual contribution
How to make machine
My role in Mechanical Week is Mechanical Design. Since I majored in mechanical engineering, I was also responsible for the overall appearance.
We decided to develop a bending machine. It is a machine that reduces the number of servomotors, not the general banding machines.
In the case of a normal bending machine, the servomotor must be inserted in each space containing the snacks. So if you have a lot of snacks, you need a motor.
So we have developed a machine that can export all snacks to one servo motor.
The first thing that I was worried about when designing is the driving method. How can you reduce the servo motor and drop the snacks.
The problem was solved by Rodrigo Instructor and our team.
Using the principle of CNC, the servomotor moves in each space, rotates, and springs to push the snacks down.
We discussed how to build a structure with Rodrigo Instructor. I got into the role of Mechanical Design and designed it.
Using fusion 360, the overall appearance was drawn. He used the laser cutter immediately to cut the prototype for the actual size
It also created how the internal mechanical parts would be positioned.
We dismantled and recycled the 3D printer we used. So we got iron bars, step motors, and motor drives.
I designed the spring to drop the cookies.
Finally, we used CNC router to design internal mechanical parts to cut. First, prototypes were made using laser cutters.
So I used HDPE as a material by using CNC.
The endmill was then cut down to 1 flulet and cut to RPM : 15,000, Feedrate:90.
And each screw was tightened to make the instrument stronger.
Finally, the exterior worked at 15 mm. The front and sides were drilled and acrylic attached so that they could be seen.
The joint part that holds the cookies off is printed out on a 3D printer. In the middle, it used bearings.
The work was finished with a number of processors, all three nights.
It is the final version. All our team members did a great job!
