Fab Academy 2018

This is the Eigteen week assignment for the Fab Academy 2018.

.

Invention, intellectual property, and income

Invention

The idea behind this extruder is to enable the Fab community to build their own extruder for recycling filaments at low cost instead of buying a large one with high cost so they can recycle the filaments to cut cost of raw materials and to save pollution of the environment. As there are many waste materials from prints that are faulty also the support materials. As FabLabs over the world have FDM 3D printers so it's advisable to have such an extruder

Intellectual Property

The project will be an Open Source Hardware and Software. What does it mean? Open Source is more and more an important way to share not only your ideas but also to receive feedback and implementation by the others. By sharing my work I'll be taping into a greater community that will help to involve and upgrade the Precious Plastic Machines. Probably I could use the Creative Common license. ?A Creative Commons (CC) license is one of several public copyright licenses that enable the free distribution of an other wise copyrighted work. A CC license is used when an author wants to give people the right to share, use and build upon a work that they have created. CC provides an author flexibility (for example, they might choose to allow only non-commercial uses of their own work) and protects the people who use or redistribute an author's work, so they don't have to worry about copyright infringement, as long as they abide by the conditions that are specified in the license by which the author distributes the work

types of copyrights

/Apache License: The Apache Software Foundation uses various licenses to distribute software and documentation, to accept regular contributions from individuals and corporations, and to accept larger grants of existing software products

3. Share Alike: Others can distribute your work only under a license identical to the one you have chosen for your work.
4. Non-Commercial: Others can copy, distribute, display, perform or remix your work but for non-commercial purposes only.

There are also mixed variations for it for example, attribution, non commercial and share alike.

My project will be licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial License.

Income

When I thought about this project I didn,t think of how I would make money out of it as I was thinking of such machine for a long time and this course helped me to implement such machine so I believe in helping others in our community to be able to build such machine as an open source and have this idea implemented on all FabLabs.
There are many websites to share your project as an opensource; one of the most famous is instructables .
Another possible way to fund this project into an actual product would be to launch it on crowdfunding websites such as: Kickstarter and Indiegog to raise funds for it and reach individuals who might be interested to get their hands on my filament recycling extruder.
