Assignment:
Make something big!

A thousand and one project possibilities came to mind, but I finally settled on a low coffee table. I wanted something that would assemble and disassemble easily, a press fit solution. Inspired by furniture from a Bulgarian artist, I set to design and draw the coffee table in Autocad.

After virtually assembling the project in 3D and laying out the pieces onto my wood board (size 40cm x 150cm x 16mm plywood), I decided to import the .dxf file into Cut2D. In this program, I set the origin point to match the board layout. Cut2D also calculates a G-Code for the cutting paths.

I then set out to do a test cut to see if I would get a good fit between the pieces. And amazingly it did from onset. The milling took 1:20hours and was successful on the first try. Excited with the results, I took it home and was a perfect fit with our home decor!
