Principles and Practices
Project Management
January 28, 2015
Assignment:
To plan and sketch a potential semester project, then build a personal website to document the ongoing project work and final project.
Potential Semester Project:
Personal challenge:
Embark on a new field for me, electronics!
Project:
I will try to engage in two main projects.
First, a small scale one: The Didactic Robot: An exciting experimental tool with the purpose of teaching kids from simple electronics to advanced electronics.
And second, a larger scale project: A small CNC machine.
Didactic Robot:
Idea:
A modular self built robot, transformable into a more complex robot which will start functioning on simple electric circuits with switches, motors, batteries, lights and then modifiable/ extendable with more complicated circuits, programmable and wirelessly controlled.
First Draft:
Decided on using a three wheeled robot where on the first stage a single wheel is motorized on a simple circuit, allowing only bi-directional movements. Later on, I wil motorize two wheels which would allow a wider range of movements.
First Challenge:
A body for a three wheeler robot.
Personal Website:
Tools:
As I have no experience in webdesign I followed the advice of my fellow student and decided to try out "Brackets" as my text editor and used a template from "HTML 5 Up" for the website design. For tips on how to program in html language I have mostly used "w3schools.com". To visualize my editing I have used "Google Chrome".
Experience:
Steep learning curve but I am happy with the results thus far.
