Week Two
For this week I was learning how to do computer aided cutting using the laser cutter. I decided to make a lampshade. This assignment required using CAD tools to design the pieces. I used corel draw to design the pieces.
My design on corel draw looked is shown below. I did not have previous design experience with corel draw but after enlisting the help of Ken I had an easy time designing.
After designing I cut on the laser cutter. At first I did not focus the machine properly and the laser did not cut. My first cut was a fail and I had to repeat. Also I had problems with the compressor was overheating and stopping at times. At one time the card board smouldered and I had to stop momentarily.
After the few fails I managed to cut the pieces buy doing two passes and got some good results
