Abstract

The velomobile or cycling (assity or not) are excellent alternatives to the car in urban areas:
almost as fast, generators of exercise, they still have two unacceptable defects:

  • they do not make noise: we do not hear them coming, and it is impossible to show off with engine noise
  • they do not spew smoke: it does not participate in the common effort of leveling down of the air quality

That's why this device is designed:
allow a bike to produce as much noise and smoke than a car

The data from the pedaling sensor pass through the UC to the smartphone via bluetooth.
This one returns user choices.
Finaly, the UC controls the smoke generator via pwm

Pedaling system

Pedaling speed will be mesured via a PAS hall effect sensor make for pedelec bicycles
The developpement will be done during the "input device" weekly assignement.

microcontroller

The microcontroller will be a attiny 44 or 84 (depending on needs)

bluetooth

The bluetooth link will be done during the "embedded networking" week, with a minimal bt interface, like for example hc-05

smartphone

The smartphone will be programmed with AppInventor, during the "application and interface programming" week, to allow:

smoke generator

The smoke generator ideally produce black smoke trapped in soap bubbles.
