3D SCANING AND PRINTING

For scanning, I took help of tutorial uploded by COEP FABLAB(In metro city pune). So following the procedure scanning.
sucessfully complited. It was so easy to scan with the help of tutorial. I took a small gear to scan on roland modela. It took
about an 4 hours to scan that gear.

Before starting this assignment. I thought that Fab Module will drive modela for 3D scanning. But it wasnt, but it should because
Fab Modules are used for fab machins. Mdela is one of that machines Anyways.
I used Dr.Picza to scan my object on Windows XP. First I preapair a setup for scanning. Connect Scanning Probs and set the port

In START open a software Dr.Picza, Screen will appear of Dr. Picza scanning software,As shown

In File > preferences > select a COM port. select Communication port.

Set X SCAN PITCH = 0.020
Y SCAN PITCH = 0.020
Z Bottom = 0.394 (By Default)
Click on Scanning Area tab(Given in Red color) in Controller As per object adjest scan area. Also we can test scanning area. My object covered 4
squer on modela bed as each of 1 sq.cm. so I have set scanning area of 4 sq.cm

Until all set now I had started scanning. Software counted estimated time for object. It was 4 hours I was waiting to complete sacnning.

Scanning is done sucessfully

Download .pix FILE

now from here I exported scanned file to .stl file as Download Scanned_gear.stl this is compitable with Netfab in order to make it 3d printable.
netfabb is not just a viewer, it provides mesh edit, repair and analysis capabilities.

3D printing

Open the netfab and import scanned_gear.stl in it. to edit in it and made it 3D printable.

I repaired file in netfab saved it. I just made that gear flat instead of that having slove in round. and saved that stl to
print.

Import .stl edited file inside 3D printer supportive software. Here we were used Riprap based Cura and Printrun
softwares for 3d printing.

I made funny mistek from now. For extra finishing, I filled that gear and exposed to heat gun but due to edges become shooth
and curvy. Now its looked like flower.
