Electronics Design

First of all, to start designing and printing circuit, its good to have a basic knowledge and understanding of all the connections on the board and how the components were referenced to one another relative to pin numbers, grounds and voltages. and for that the book The Encyclopaedia of Electronic Components Vol. 1 is a good source. Here is the link to see the details.

This week the exercise was to add a button and a LED to the HELLO-world board design and mill it. I have started using EAGLE software to design circuit by going through couple of basic tutorials and and it took me while to understand the software. first its better to get all the required components in the schematic view in the software and then start getting the right connections. Next, its better to label the wires instead of connecting directly with components which make the schema much clearer to understand. Here is the link to download HELLOboard.

BOARD(traces) Diagram

The difficult part for me was creating the traces without crossing on each other and leaving enough room for the parts to fit. I used the automatic feature the auto-router is a horror I tried to make a placement own for components, but most of the connections are crossed and it took me while and eventually managed to get all of the parts connected and to work. I ran the ECC check - passed.

After this i exported the HELLOboard from Eagle as a monochrome PNG at 500 dpi and then in photoshop generate two different file for cutting the broader and interior traces to mill the circuit board. then its the same process as ELECTRONIC PRODUCTION of FABISP; milling Circuit HELLOboard by using RONALD modela milling machine and then soldering all the components.
NOTE:As being a beginner in electronics, i was had problem understanding all the components and the relation with eachother but thanks to Guillem Camprodon, he explained about all the components very well and i know basic of all the components for atleast this HELLOboard, and also i had problems with soldering all the small components but after mnaking these FabISP as 4th week assignment and HELLOboard this time, i have a bit of confidence in slodering.
