Lesson 17

I believe that this product would be interesting for people that would like to grow plants, but their lives are too hectic to water the plants on time. We are all getting busier every day and have little time to take care of plants. We live in cities with litte space and growing plants for consumption is very hard as i have experienced myself. Too little water, too much water, bugs or too little nutrients. My original idea is to make a system that will optimize living conditions for the plant you want to grow. This can be different for each type of plant. The system is intended for indoor use and should be able to stack on top of each other. The system should be cheap enough that after two years of usage, the system earns itself completely back. With returns, i mean the fruits/vegetables, you grow with this system. Secondly, i think that people are getting more worried about what is happening to their food. After many food scandals, people are getting more interested in making their own food. The amount of chemicals that are sprayed on our fruits and vegetables are enormous. So, i think that this system, would appeal to any tech savvy or environmentally concious person living in the city which want to grow their own vegetables and/or fruit. The current model is not cheap enough, but i think it is possible to bring the cost of this model down considerably.

The idea is that the system of cubes will work together locally to get all the plants enough water and nutrients. Ideally, the data collected from the growing process would be shared with other people via the internet, so people would work together on the optimal growing conditions for each type of plant. In a perfect world,i would plant the seed and select a growing program (i.e. strawberries) and it the system would generate the ideal growing conditions. Growing plants becomes a social experience, which could create more demand for this system.
