About the Assignment

The assignment was drawn out using Rhinoceros The plan was to design, model and make a press fit kit for a revolving door.Initially, it was intended to have a central pillar or hub upon which four revolving rectangular door panels would hang.

In terms of the press fit assignment, an earlier drawn out cylindrical post like structure at the center, which would act as a hub, did not work out well. Fitting press fit joints was not coming off easily in a press fit manner.

The cylindrical central hub like structure was abandoned in favor of three circular discs that were created with four slots on each whereby each rectangular door panel would have their own slots to fit into.

The rectangular door panels had three slots on which they would press fit onto the circular discs. The necessary pieces were cut out of acrylic sheet material using the laser cutter.
