// WEEK 03
COMPUTER-CONTROLLED CUTTING
Weekly Overview
This week focused on laser and vinyl cutting. I characterized machine settings for my materials and created a parametric construction kit designed for press-fit assembly.
Laser Characterization
Testing Power & Speed
I recorded the laser cutting my test grid. This helped me identify the exact speed and power needed to cut through my material without excessive charring.
Safety Note
The video shows the exhaust system active and a fire extinguisher nearby at all times.
Parametric Press-Fit Kit
The Assembly Process
In this video, I demonstrate how the parametric pieces "press-fit" together. Because I accounted for the kerf in my design, the joints are tight and do not require glue.

Vinyl Cutting & Weeding
Weeding and Application
This video shows the manual process of removing the negative spaces from the sticker (weeding) and using transfer tape to apply the final design to a laptop surface.
